Katharine Byers election to the BPD board comes as the organization faces key issues

March 17, 2008 -  Dr. Katharine V. Byers, a long-time member of the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, has been elected to the organization’s board for a two-year term.

     Byers, the BSW Program Director in Bloomington and Co-Director of Institute for Family and Social Responsibility, said her election to the board comes at an important time “as the social work education and practice organizations are initiating an effort to unify the profession to speak with one voice.”

     “At the same time, we are initiating new policy statements for our accreditation standards,” Byers noted.

     “So it is time of great change in the social work profession and I am excited to be part of that change effort.”
